The Società di San Giovanni Battista presents “RESONARE”, a series of organ concerts bridging tradition and contemporary expression.
For over 230 years, the Società di San Giovanni Battista has promoted Florentine culture and traditions. With “Resonare”, a programme of organ concerts held in Florence’s churches, the Society renews its commitment to sharing the city’s spiritual and artistic heritage, allowing the same harmony that has animated the heart of Florence for centuries to resonate once again. The series has been organised in collaboration with Quartiere 1, under the patronage of the Municipality of Florence and the Archdiocese of Florence.
The organ, an ancient and majestic instrument, will take centre stage in a musical journey spanning the centuries, led by the virtuosity and artistic direction of organist Lucia Baldacci, together with the vocal ensemble Estro Armonico Fiorentino. This path of meditation, elevation and contemplation unfolds through immortal masterpieces and compositions inspired by the origins of the Society, founded in 1796 with a concert in Florence Cathedral dedicated to “offering fine music in honour of Florence’s Patron Saint.” A bridge between past and present, rooted in tradition, to make the heart of Florence resonate once more.
